            • The Hometown Heroes Memorial, dedicated July 1, 2012, is a focal point of the entrance to the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce at 104 Kennedy Boulevard in Pittston. Erected on the front lawn, with a view of the Susquehanna River and the Firefighters Memorial Bridge, which itself was dedicated in memory of two Pittston area firefighters killed in a 1993 blaze.

              An engraved granite monument dedicated to each man encircles a 50-foot flag pole outside the Chamber of Commerce building. Each monument includes a brass plaque of their photo. Personalized memorial bricks were sold to line the walkway of the memorial.

              In addition to the five monuments in the front of the Chamber building, a living memorial was erected on the side of the building to honor retired Army Capt. T.J. Hromisin, who suffered a traumatic brain injury and was left blind after being shot in the head while serving in Iraq in May 2007. Hromisin's monument is placed next to a tree planted in his honor.

              Former Chamber President, Charlie Adonizio said the Hometown Heroes Memorial was a snapshot of post-Sept. 11 heroes from the Pittston area, the latest in a long line of patriots from the area who made the ultimate sacrifice.
